EQUAL JUSTICE UNDER LAW? NOT IN SOUTH CAROLINA
For too many South Carolinians, justice remains out of reach:
🔹 83% of low-income residents with civil legal problems receive inadequate or no legal help 🔹 18 counties have fewer than 5 practicing attorneys per 10,000 residents 🔹 91% of tenants face eviction proceedings without legal representation 🔹 South Carolina ranks 47th nationally in access to civil legal assistance 🔹 Only 3% of the legal needs of low-income South Carolinians are being met
