WHY THIS MATTERS: The Mekong, Nile, Amazon, Danube, and Ganges river systems sustain billions of lives but face existential threats. Upstream dams alter flows, agricultural runoff poisons waters, and climate change disrupts seasonal patterns. Despite this, no comprehensive protection frameworks exist for these lifelines.

OUR VISION: A world where transboundary rivers are governed cooperatively, with equitable water sharing, pollution controls, and ecosystem protection enshrined in international law.

THE PLAN: → Convene river basin stakeholders from all 23 affected countries → Draft model treaty language based on successful regional agreements → Fund scientific assessments of ecological needs for each river system → Develop dispute resolution mechanisms for competing water needs → Create economic incentives for sustainable river management

IMPACT METRICS:

  • 5 comprehensive river treaties established by 2027
  • Water quality monitoring stations in all major tributaries
  • 30% reduction in transboundary pollution incidents
  • Restoration of 100,000 hectares of riparian habitat
  • Sustainable livelihoods for 500,000+ river-dependent communities
